JUNIOR LEAGUE (GRADES 4-6):
Games will consist of three 15 minute periods -- running time with 5 minute breaks between periods.
Clock will stop on all whistles during last 5 minutes of the third period, unless one team is winning by more than 2 goals. Penalties will be called. Penalty will be for 2 minutes and team will play shorthanded.
Games are played with the delayed offsides rule.
In addition to the rule below (See "BOTH LEAGUES" rules) regarding number of players to field a team, if one team has only 5 position players plus the goalie, the coach can elect to play with 4 position players plus the goalie and the opponent's coach must comply and also play with 4 position players plus the goalie.
PEE WEE LEAGUE (K THRU 3RD GRADE):
Same as above with the one exception that games will be 12 minute running time with the last 3 minutes of the 3rd period as stop time, unless one team is leading by more than 2 goals. No offsides rule, unless players are hanging behind the play in anticipation of the 'home run pass". Thus, to coin the basketball phrase, no baskethanging! Referees will be instructed to blow the whistle on repeat offenders.
BOTH LEAGUES:
All players must play at least 1/2 the game. NO ICING rule
NO SLAPSHOTS ALLOWED. Only wrist shots and snapshots.
There will be 6 players on the rink (5 position players plus the goalie) UNLESS one of the teams have only 5 total players, then the other team must also field only 5 players (4 position players plus the goalie). For the regular season games, we will play one overtime period. Both teams will get one point for the tie and the winner will get another point for the win.
Playoff games tied at the end of regulation will play a sudden death 5 minute OT. If still tied, teams will play another 5 minute sudden death OT. If tied after the 2nd OT, a shootout will be played with 3 players chosed from each side & alternating shots. If tied after the 3 shoot, then we will continue one player from each side until tie is broken. All players from each side must shoot before a player can go twice.
STANDINGS:
Ties in the standings will be broken as follows: First tie breaker will be head-to-head won/loss record. 2nd tie breaker will be team with most wins. 3rd tie breaker will be # of goals scored for entire season. One Referee will be present at each game. Championship game will have two referees.
